High Tech Happy Hour Celebrates 13th Anniversary

On Thursday, August 21, the local networking group, High Tech Happy Hour (HTHH), will celebrate its 13th anniversary of connecting Madison professionals.

HTHH began in 2001 as a way for people in the technology community to gather and network. The concept was simple - people connecting to leverage ideas and opportunities. HTHH has grown remarkably since then, and now draws close to 300 business professionals from every discipline to each monthly event. Hosted by SupraNet Communications and Yahara Software, HTHH has become a mainstay in the Madison community.

The Anniversary Celebration will be held at the UW Memorial Union from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and will be the biggest HTHH of the year, with 500 anticipated guests. Come enjoy sponsored food and beverages while enjoying the view of the Memorial Union and Lake Mendota. Along with the numerous local beers offered, the Wisconsin Brewing Company will be in attendance giving out free samples. The Anniversary Celebration is a great time to thank the local businesses who have made HTHH possible every month by providing sponsorships and venues.

High Tech Happy Hour is pleased to once again partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin for the anniversary celebration. Attendees are encouraged to bring a financial donation to the event to help support southwestern Wisconsin’s largest hunger relief organization. In an effort to expand the impact of this partnership on the community, SupraNet Communications and Yahara Software will match the donations collected at the event up to $1,000. To date, HTHH has helped provide 7,194 meals to help fight hunger in our community. Just $1 can provide 3 meals for those in need.

“We are grateful for our relationship with the organizers and attendees of High Tech Happy Hour,” said Dan Stein, President and CEO of Second Harvest Foodbank. “They are a fine example of the difference people can make when we work together to solve the challenges that face us.”

Following the Anniversary Celebration, HTHH will host PechaKucha at 7:00 p.m. on August 28th at the Monona Terrace. Join us for “Biotech as a Metaphor for Life” and hear why Madison is a hotbed for innovative biotechnology firms.

The HTHH Anniversary Celebration kicks off the 2014 Forward Festival. Running from August 21 – 28, the Forward Festival is an eight-day celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship. Visit www.forwardfest.org for a full list of Festival events.
